Would like to make your kids happy with a genuine snack? Prepare this delicious crostata!
Crostata is a simple, incredibly greedy dessert made with pasta frill dough and jam. It becomes even more genuine if you make it with a homemade strawberry jam.

INGREDIENTS for a round shallow baking tin (~25cm)
FOR THE DOUGH
- 300g (10.5oz) all-purpose flour
- 150g (5.3 oz) sugar
- 100g (3.5oz) unsalted butter, at room temperature, diced
- 1 egg
- a pinch of salt
FOR THE FILLING
- 450 gr jam, your favorite flavour.

METHOD
- Place the flour, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Stir well to combine. Add the butter and rub the mixture between the palms of your hands until you form crumbs.
- Add the egg and stir with a fork until the mixture comes together to make a dough. Form the dough into a ball and wrap it in cling film. Chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
- After removing from the fridge, knead the dough a couple of times to soften it up again on a lightly floured surface.
- Put aside 1/3 of the dough. Roll out the rest to 0.5 cm thickness, transfer to the greased (butter and flour) tin ensuring that the base and sides are completely covered. Trim any extra dough.
- Fill with the jam.
- Then, with the dough taken aside, make strips to create a lattice finish, or shape it to any desired form, and decorate the surface.
- Bake in pre heated oven at 180° for 35-40 minutes, until the crostata is golden -brown.
